The BMA enforces measure on market sanitation, ensure consumers with safety

On 21st April 2020, Mrs. Silapasuai Rawisaengsun, Permanent Secretary for BMA, had visited 3 markets and inspected their preventive measures against the spread of COVID-19. She also distributed alcohol-based hand sanitizers and fabric face masks to market vendors.

The market locations are at 1. Watthana Nan market, Don Muang district. 2. Kosum market, Don Muang district. 3. Bon Marché Market Park, Chatuchak district.

The inspection showed that all markets have implemented with measures as follows:

Market’s entry and exit points are controlled, visitors are provided with COVID-19 and fever screening tests, physical distancing between people are practiced, alcohol-based hand sanitizers and wash basin are provided to market customers.

The BMA then would like to thank all market owners and vendors for their collaboration on preventing of the spread of COVID-19.

There are 300 registered markets in Bangkok with some flea markets held during the weekend. Therefore, 50 district offices were assigned to requests for collaboration of market owners in their responsible area to keep market sanitation in accordance with the Health Department guidance. Market owners must also strictly comply with the BMA’s market measures, in order to reduce the risk of the spread of COVID-19.
