Taxpayer can pay land and building tax in installments for three months

Mr. Kriangyos Sudlabha, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, revealed that as the year 2020 is the first year for the collection of tax on land and building under the Land and Building Tax Act B.E. 2562 (2019) coupled with the situation of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the Royal Thai Government extends the deadline for land and building tax payments in August 31, 2020. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) found that many people are confused about the new tax law and do not have clear understanding on this matter; therefore, the BMA publicized an announcement dated August 28, 2020 on the extension of the deadline of the implementation under the Land and Building Tax Act B.E. 2562 (2019) until October 31, 2020. The people can apply for paying the tax within October 2020 without having to pay a fine or surcharges.

The BMA has already assigned all 50 district offices to inform the taxpayers of the appraisal value of their land and buildings, tax assessment and other details related to tax collection in July 2020. Moreover, payment options are added to facilitate the taxpayers to pay tax more conveniently and rapidly via various channels. Tax can be paid at the district offices, post offices, and banks or via QR Payment, ATM, Internet Banking, and Mobile Banking. For those who want to pay land and building tax in installments, only a taxpayer who has at least Baht 3,000 of tax due will be eligible to pay in installments. Installment payments must be paid in three equal rounds: the first installment in October 2020, the second installment in November 2020, and the third installment in December 2020.
