On 18 April 2020, at 10.00 a.m., Mrs. Silapasuai Rawisaengsun, Permanent Secretary for BMA, inspected and visited officials working at checkpoints for screening and monitoring travels to Bangkok in the effort to control the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Eastern Bangkok area. The checkpoints were located at Kanchanaphisek 39 frontage road, Prawet District, bordering Samut Prakan Province and at the intersection under Chalerm Maha Nakhon Expressway, Suwinthawong Road, Nong Chok District, bordering Chachoengsao Province.

Since 26 March 2020, the BMA in collaboration with related agencies has set up 13 checkpoints as well as the screening at 3 bus stations to monitor the inter-provincial travel of the commuters. Vehicles were screened at the checkpoint and no risk group is found. The BMA has ensured that officers stationed at the checkpoints dress properly with face masks, face shields, gloves and use alcohol-based hand sanitizers for their safety and public safety at the checkpoints.
