Expedite the collection of garbage and water hyacinths in Bang Khun Thian’s canals for efficient flow of water into the sea

(August 27, 2020) Mr. Sakchai Boonma, Deputy Governor of Bangkok had a site visit to monitor the progress of implementation to increase drainage efficiency of canals in Bang Khun Thian district area.

Bang Khun Thian District Office has collected garbage and eradicated weeds and water hyacinths to improve the flows of water and prevent flood according to the policy on increasing drainage efficiency during rainy season. Moreover, this is also part of the volunteer spirit activities for the development of six canals in six district zones, on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua’s birthday anniversary July 28, 2020.

In this regard, the Deputy Governor of Bangkok instructed the Bang Khun Thian District Office together with Drainage and Sewerage Department to expedite the collection of garbage and eradication of weeds and water hyacinths that obstruct the flows of the canals in the area.

In addition, the Drainage and Sewerage Department is assigned to expedite the dredging of the canals in order to increase the drainage efficiency and the continuity of the flows of canals in Bang Khun Thian district and South Thon Buri District Zone into the sea to prevent floods and to be beneficial for waterways transportation of the people in the area.
