BMA building its personnel capacity to support New Normal Tourism with MICE

(August 7, 2020) Mr. Kriangyos Sudlabha, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, presided over the opening of the meeting to provide knowledge on organizing of meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions (MICE) of fiscal year 2020 for personnel of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA).

MICE refers to 4 types of large tourism business, namely, businesses on organizing organizational conferences (Meetings), incentive travel(Incentives), international conferences(Conventions) and events at which products and services are displayed (Exhibitions). All these 4 businesses, called MICE business, comprises skilled and flawless management of the professionals in terms of services, venues, formal meetings, food and beverage, facilities and equipment, receipt and delivery of products to be displayed, protocol, customs, and so on.

Thailand now has five MICE cities: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Khon Kaen, and Phuket. All five cities has capacity and readiness to organize activities to support MICE business.

In order to build knowledge and understanding on MICE business for the BMA personnel to accommodate future MICE travelers, the BMA decided to host this training program. Participants in this program include BMA officers from 50 districts and members of Committee on Driving the MICE Industry from BMA agencies at the departmental level.
